  • Reading Round Barnard Castle

    Date: Thursday September 15, 2016

    Location: County Room, Witham Hall, 3 Horsemarket, Barnard Castle

    Time: 10.30 am to 12 noon

     The Reading Round is a different sort of reading group promoted by the Royal Literary Fund.  Each group is led by a "lector", a working writer - & in Barnard Castle, that's me.    

    In each session we discuss a short story and a selection of poems, each read aloud with texts provided.  There is no homework, you just bring yourself and your love of reading.  

    New members welcome.           Cost £3 per session to cover room hire.

  • The Darker Side of Dahl

    Date: Tuesday July 26, 2016

     In partnership with the Royal Literary Fund Reading Round - come explore the adult side of Roald Dahl through two of his short stories, read with the assistance of members of the Castle Players on two separate nights:  

    Tuesday, 26th July, 6.30 to 8pm &

    Tuesday, 2nd August, 6.30 to 8pm

  • A Missed Perspective

    Location: Hexham Library, Queen's Hall, Hexham

    Time: 5pm to 7pm

     Free drop in session to gather local family stories, photographs, letters or other memorabilia from World War 1 for the 'Missed Perspective' project devised by the Hexham Book Festival focussing on the history of the people of Northumberland.
